Our elves getting Christmas ready
Our elves have been hard at work drawing, painting and creating gorgeous new festive bedding designs ready for this year’s big day! The whole process starts a full year in advance, so the Design team can create festive patterns at Christmas time. Cue the mince pies!
First, the team start with trends. They head out into shops, get inspired by magazines and Christmas in real people’s homes on social media. “We think how we can make a certain trend our own or consider how they might change over the year,” says Phoebe, one of our designers.
The design team then creates the trends they want to focus on, and start to create designs to fit into those trends. For Christmas, trends are more nuanced than trends for the rest of the year, as there are particular motifs, colours and themes that are consistent from year to year.
Think cosy Santas, snowy winter wonderlands, cute Christmas decorations and more. But that’s not to say that there aren’t new and interesting takes. In our collection this year, you’ll find bright colours and unusual Christmas animals, as well as more refined takes for those who love minimalist texture.
Once the pattern elements have been created on paper, it’s turned into a digital pattern on the computer. This is then mocked up into bedding so the team can see what it will look like on a bed.
The patterns are sent to production, where one offs are created so the design team can make sure they’re happy with the final, real-life look. It’s then on to the styling and photography!
